WELCOME TO GRIZZLY HILL SCHOOL
Grizzly Hill School is a TK-8 public school located in beautiful North Columbia. The school enjoys a family-like ambiance and is committed to a low student-teacher ratio with an average of 20 or fewer students per class. The student population hovers around 100 students. Classrooms tend to be multi-graded depending on the student population.

One of the foremost advances in school-wide discipline is the emphasis on school-wide systems of support that includes strategies for defining, teaching, and supporting appropriate student behaviors to create positive school environments.

GREEN EFFORTS
Grizzly Hill School became less dependent on PGE in 2012-2013 school year. It currently enjoys an education PGE solar panel which can be monitored by students. The school is very conscientious about waste production. The food program no longer uses disposable products to serve meals, and this creates very little school waste.
GARDEN
A school garden is the focus for garden science and nutritional education. The students often “graze” in the garden after PE or after walking the school track, which is graded and surfaced to a high standard. The gardens are charming and calming and provide a setting for art, math, and writing as well as science. Students enjoy the opportunity to graze and to provide supplements to the child nutrition service program. An orchard was planted during the 2009-2010 school year. A butterfly garden and a native plant garden were also added to the campus.
TECHNOLOGY
Technology is widely incorporated into the curriculum at Grizzly Hill School to support instruction and student practice. All teachers have LCD projectors and document cameras. All students are provided a chrome book in their classrooms. READ NATURALLY, and ACCELERATED READER are used.
CHILD NUTRITION SERVICES
Good nutrition supports student development. A wholesome and nutritious breakfast and lunch are provided to all Grizzly Hill students. All food is prepared on site and our program incorporates organic and local produce whenever possible as budget allows. All meals and beverages meet state and federal requirements which are based on the USDA Dietary Guidelines. Our meals are very appealing and promote a healthy lifestyle.
LIBRARY
The heart of the school is the library. The Grizzly Hill School library is lovely and boasts an impressive collection of 14,000 books.
SCHOOL SITE COUNCIL
Our School has an active site council comprised of community members, parents, and staff. The primary role of the council is to set goals and budget for the Single Plan for Student Achievement. The council is also active in surveying parents and providing guidance for school and district decisions. Site council meets an average of one day per month.
